Pruning, Shaping & Differentiating
Pruning is a great way to stimulate growth, shape an overgrown plant and/or to remove dead parts that can hinder development. One specialized method of pruning is rejuvenation pruning which means to cut an old shrub very low, or even to the ground in the early Spring. We make angled cuts so that water doesn’t settle on the fresh cut and cause mold. We also make the cuts methodically near healthy leaves, stems or branches which ensures a natural-looking trim rather than a choppy one, and it trains new growth accordingly. I've seen landscaping crews use hedge trimmers on roses, which is taboo!
